PTK Membership Meeting
The next PTK membership meeting will be on February 3, 2026 in the Center Building room 429 from 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM, and will also be available on Zoom.
Come join us for some delightful breakfast snacks before morning classes! We’ll discuss PTK goals for the 2026 year, celebrate our successes from 2025, and discuss all things PTK. New, old, and prospective members welcome!

Fruit Tree Pruning Workshops
The LCC Learning Garden is holding Fruit Tree Pruning Workshops. Andrea will teach winter pruning techniques for Apples, Pears, Plums and discuss other fruit pruning as well. This is for the beginner to advanced pruner, all levels welcome to attend. Save your spot and register here!
This is a two-part workshop on February 5, 1:00 - 4:00 PM and February 6, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, attend them both or just one, whatever you have the time for! Andrea will spend part of the time each day with theory and presentation in the orchard, followed by hands-on techniques. For best participation bring your own hand-held pruners or small saws. All tools will be sterilized and sharpened prior to use. We have a few on-site to lend. Wear weather appropriate clothing and shoes, bring water and snacks if you wish.

APISU's Lunar New Year February 17
Celebrate Lunar New Year with the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Union on February 17, 1:30 - 3:00 PM in the Multicultural Center, which is a vibrant cultural celebration welcoming the new year with joy and tradition. The event will feature traditional music and interactive activities highlighting the rich histories of Lunar New Year celebrations across Asia. Enjoy festive decorations, food, games, and opportunities to learn about customs such as red lucky envelopes, zodiac animals, and New Year foods. This celebration is open to all and designed to foster cultural appreciation, connection, and community spirit. Whether you are familiar with Lunar New Year traditions or experiencing them for the first time, everyone is welcome to participate, learn, and celebrate together. Come ring in the new year with good fortune, community pride, and shared cultural experiences!

February 13: Lane Community College students are invited to join Debate Day, a beginner-friendly debate and public speaking event hosted by the LCC Speech & Debate Society. Center Building, Room 202, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
February 18: Black History Month key note speaker on "American Grammar". Meet Dr. Givens for a meet and greet from 12:00 - 1:00 PM in Building 19 room 220.
March 19: Art Gallery A Closing Reception and Artist Talk for both shows will be held at the gallery on from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.

Check Your Progress
Do you know how you’re doing in your classes? If you don’t (or haven’t received mid-term grades), don’t be afraid to ask your instructors! It’s important to know how you are doing at the midpoint, so you can adjust if needed.
You can also ask what you need to do to improve, if necessary. Study resources are available if you need them!

Titans Basketball Begins Final Stretch of Conference Play, Baseball Opener Set for Feb. 14
Last Saturday, the Titans men’s and women’s basketball teams were unable to come out on top against the Clackamas Cougars. You can read more about those games at LaneTitans.com.
This week each team will play two away matches, first, at Southwest Oregon Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Coos Bay. The men’s game will tipoff at 5:30 PM, followed by the women’s game at 7:30 PM. And then on Saturday, Feb. 7, the Titans will travel to Portland and face the Panthers of Portland Community College. The Titans men will play at 2:00 PM and the women’s game will start at 4:00 PM.
The Titans baseball team will open their season with a doubleheader on Feb. 14 at home vs. the Edmonds College Tritons. First pitch of the season opener is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
Drop-in recreation opportunities are available to students. The gym is open to students Monday-Thursday 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Fridays 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, pickleball can be set up upon request!

Drop-In Math Tutoring
Drop in from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday-Wednesday to the STEM Learning Zone (16/169) this term to work with math tutors Carrie and Dan!
Carrie and Dan support all levels of math, and can help you review for a test, work through a tricky problem, or help with a tough homework assignment. Or make an Appointments for math and other subjects and find addition to drop-in hours.

Test Review with a Tutor
Tutors can provide valuable feedback on tests, essays, and assignments to help you strengthen your skills and feel more confident as finals approach. Visit the STEM Zone (Building 16, Rooms 193 & 169) or use MyWCOnline to schedule an appointment. If you have questions, email tutoring@lanecc.edu or stop by Monday–Thursday 9:00 AM–4:30 PM or Friday 9:00 AM–1:00 PM.
Writing tutors are also available to help you polish your scholarship personal essay by connecting your experiences to the prompt and proofreading before you submit. Scholarship deadlines are coming up quickly, including the Lane Foundation Scholarship application closing March 3rd, so don’t wait to get support stop by here or at the Foundation for assistance.

Student Government Association Candidate Debate
The Oregon Legislative Session kicks off this week and there will be an opportunity to give testimony (register here) at the Joint Ways and Means Committee. This will be one of the few opportunities during the short session to speak to lawmakers directly and impart the importance of how funding community colleges impacts us as students.
The PCC Government Relations team in collaboration with Lane SGA has generously connecting people with some resources on how to testify. Testimony can be given either virtual or in-person during the Joint Ways and Means Committee from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 3rd, or written testimony will be accepted for 48 hours after the meeting. If you need some support check out these resources for a walkthrough for virtual testimony and written testimony.

Do you have a concern about a class?
If you have a concern about a course your are taking, please talk with your instructor if you feel comfortable doing so. If not, please consider filling out a class concern form. Common class concerns can include: not posting grades in a timely manner, unexpected changes in class modality/delivery, unreasonable changes to the syllabus, and grade penalties for academic misconduct without the opportunity to explain.
