Prepare for Valentines Day!
Don't forget your sweetie, galentine, or favorite study buddy! The Library Makerspace is hosting two crafts for Valentine's Day — button-making and linocut printing. Join us February 12 and 13 from 11:00 - 1:00 PM. We have everything you need to make a special token of love. Button-making will be in Center Building (outside the Library), and printing inside the Makerspace. Come craft with us!
Need help with a research assignment? Librarians are available via chat, email (find links on the Library website) or at the Research Help desk, just inside the Library across from J & J Coffee.

Bingo & Mingle on Friday
Join the Gender & Sexuality Alliance for Bingo & Mingle on February 13 from 1:00–3:00 PM. in the Gender Equity Center. This festive, welcoming event is designed to build community and celebrate love of all kinds in a fun, social environment.
Enjoy bingo, connection, and sweet treats, including cupcakes from Noisette Pastry Kitchen. All are welcome to stop by, meet new people, and celebrate together.

Debate Day Invitational Tournament, No Experience Needed
Lane Community College students are invited to attend Debate Day, a beginner-friendly public speaking event hosted by the LCC Speech & Debate Society.
Students will practice short, structured debate rounds in pairs and learn the basics of parliamentary-style debate in a supportive, low-pressure environment. No experience is required, and food will be provided for participants. Students must attend the meeting to set up Tabroom in order to compete.

Costs are rising, and student voices matter more than ever. Join us to share your thoughts on tuition, affordability, and how Lane can better support students. This is your opportunity to speak directly to decision-makers, ask questions about the budget and negotiations, and help shape how the College plans for the future. Whether you’re concerned about costs, access, or student opportunities, your perspective helps ensure Lane’s decisions reflect real student experiences. Black History Month Events
The Library is celebrating Black History Month with Black Joy! Explore our book display of musicians, artists, writers, and thinkers who are shaping contemporary Black culture and scholarship with a focus on resilience, creativity, humanity, and reclamation.
On February 18, join us for a special campus visit with Jarvis R. Givens, Harvard professor and author of American Grammar.
An informal Meet & Greet will take place from 12:00–1:00 PM in building 19 room 220. Students, staff, and Board of Education members are invited to stop by and speak with Dr. Givens one-on-one.
The evening keynote, “American Grammar,” will be held from 5:30–6:45 p.m. in building 19 room 226, followed by a book signing from 5:30–7:15 PM. In this powerful talk, Dr. Givens reframes the history of U.S. education and explores how past policies continue to shape present-day debates about curriculum, access, and equity. One hundred copies of the book will be available at no charge, or you may bring your own for signing.

Lunar New Year Celebrations February 17 & 18
Celebrate the Lunar New Year with two vibrant opportunities to connect, learn, and welcome the new year together!
On February 17, continue the celebration with the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Union from 112:30 -2:30 PM. in the Multicultural Center. This vibrant cultural gathering will honor the new year with joy, tradition, and community.
Then on February 18, The International Program invites all students to stop by the International Program Office from 11:00 - 2:00 PM to enjoy delicious food, play traditional games, and watch a festive movie. It’s a wonderful chance to learn more about Lunar New Year traditions and gather with friends in celebration.
All students are welcome at both events—we look forward to celebrating with you!

February 16-17: WaterWorks auditions are open to students and all community members! This is a paid opportunity; all roles will receive a stipend. Auditions to include individual singing auditions on a first-come, first-sing basis, followed by some possible group singing (taught in-room). Monday, February 16, 5:00 - 7:00 PM and Tuesday, February 17, 5:00 - 7:00 PM
February 25: Oregon Transfer Days is an annual event coordinated by the Oregon Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (OrACRAO). The event is designed to support community college students who are considering transferring to a four-year college or university.
March 19: Art Gallery A Closing Reception and Artist Talk for both shows will be held at the gallery on from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.

Hurry before classes fill up!
If you already registered but haven’t looked at your courses recently, check to make sure you still have the schedule you need.

It’s Scholarship Season!
Scholarships are a great way to keep college costs down or borrow less money. A scholarship is a financial gift given to student applicants that successfully demonstrate their commitment to their education. Do you have a concern about a class?
If you have a concern about a course your are taking, please talk with your instructor if you feel comfortable doing so. If not, please consider filling out a class concern form. Common class concerns can include: not posting grades in a timely manner, unexpected changes in class modality/delivery, unreasonable changes to the syllabus, and grade penalties for academic misconduct without the opportunity to explain.
