MEChA de LCC is excited to invite students to apply to attend the 2026 MEChA National Conference in Salt Lake City, April 10–12, 2026. This national gathering brings together student leaders, organizers, and community advocates from across the country to build collective power, strengthen leadership skills, and deepen our understanding of social justice, cultura, and community empowerment.

BOE Watch Party- Advocate for your tuition
Learn about Lane’s Board of Education with your Student Government Association senators! Enjoy free Panda Express and a rundown of the upcoming agenda while gaining insight into how Board decisions impact students. This event also provides space to learn about and support student advocacy efforts, including encouraging students to sign petitions and speak at the Board of Education meeting in support of a 1.2% tuition increase or less.
Stop by Wednesday, March 4 from 5:30–7:00 PM in Haugland Commons (2nd floor of Center) to learn more and get involved. If you have questions or would like to sign the petition in advance, visit Center 202 and connect with your SGA representative.

Lane Speech and Debate Society Hosts No-Debate End-of-Term Party
The Lane Community College Speech and Debate Society will celebrate the end of a successful term with a relaxed pizza and board games gathering—no debating involved, just good food and fun.
The event takes place on Thursday, March 6, from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM in the Center Building, Student Meeting Room 202,
After a term of honing public speaking, argumentation, and critical thinking skills through weekly meetings and practice, club members and friends are invited to unwind. Attendees can enjoy a variety of pizzas and play board games in a casual, low-pressure setting to recognize achievements and build camaraderie.

Titans Set Basketball Scoring Records and Qualify for Postseason
Congratulations to the men’s and women’s basketball teams who qualified for the NWAC Playoffs in Pasco, WA. Both teams will play a first round game against the Green River Gators this week! On Wednesday, Feb., 25, freshman Gretchen Orton set a new single-game scoring record with 46 points in Lane’s 107-101 double overtime win against the Umpqua Riverhawks.
Men: (Southern Region) No. 4 Lane Titans vs. (West Region) No. 1 Green River Gators, Thursday, March 5th at 6:00 PM. Women: (Southern Region) No. 2 Lane Titans vs. (West Region) No. 3 Green River Gators, Sat., March 7th at 8:00 PM.
On Thursday, March 5th, the Lane Titans baseball team will play a home doubleheader against an NWAC Southern Region foe, the Southwestern Oregon Lakers. The first game is scheduled for 11:00 AM and the second game (tentatively) 2:00 PM.

Prepare for Finals with a Tutor!
Set up a tutoring appointment to help you prepare for finals! Tutors can provide support going over past assignments, working through study guides, and helping hone study skills.
To set up an appointment: search for tutors by subject and set up appointments on the tutoring website by clicking ‘Make an Appointment’, logging in, and then using the ‘Show All Subjects’ dropdown menu. While appointments are encouraged, we do typically have drop-in support available as well, just head to the STEM Learning Zone (16/193) and we'll help get you connected with a tutor!

The time is now to apply for an LCC Foundation Scholarship. With just one simple application, you can connect to hundreds of scholarship opportunities available specifically to LCC students. All students who plan to attend LCC during the 2026–27 academic year are encouraged to apply. The deadline is March 3, so don’t wait—there’s only one day left!
Want to make your application stand out? Writing tutors are ready to help you craft a strong personal essay. They can help you connect your experiences to the prompt, polish your writing, and proofread your work before submission.
You can schedule a session with a writing tutor or stop by the STEM Zone front desk (Building 16, Room 193) to get connected.

Recreation Opportunities for LCC Students
The Health and Physical Education Department is excited to share several recreation opportunities available to students currently enrolled in courses—both on campus and in the community.
Students can take advantage of drop-in recreation at the LCC gym, open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM and Fridays from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM. Pickleball can also be set up upon request.
LCC has also partnered with local recreation providers to expand opportunities. Students can receive one free day pass to Willamalane Parks & Recreation by stopping by the Recreation Office (Building 5, Room 204) and showing a current student ID. Additionally, students can climb for free at Elevation Bouldering Gym on Lincoln St. in Eugene by presenting proof of enrollment, signing the waiver, and completing the orientation. Additional visits may be purchased.

2026 Faculty Commencement Speaker Nominations
We are seeking your nominations for the 2026 Commencement Faculty Speaker! Faculty members include instructors, career counselors, mental health counselors, librarians, multicultural center coordinators, gender equity center coordinators, instructional designers, health clinic nurses, coaches, and athletic trainers. Please consider faculty members from your time at Lane who demonstrated alignment with the College's values of learning, diversity, innovation, collaboration and partnership, integrity, accessibility, and sustainability. Nominees will be notified and given the opportunity to accept or decline the nomination. A selection committee made up of students, previous faculty speakers, deans, and administration will score and select the finalist. Please submit your nomination by Friday, March 20 at 5:00 PM.

Notice & Comment: Privacy Policy– Feedback Due March 12th
Your voice matters. The College is reviewing and updating the Privacy policy, which helps shape the student experience by protects privacy rights of its employees and students.
Students are encouraged to review the current policy in the policy/procedure library (COPPS) along with the proposed updates linked in the feedback form. This is an opportunity to share your perspective and help guide decisions that affect students across campus.
Feedback is due by March 12th. We value student input and encourage you to participate in the review process.

Do you have a concern about a class?
If you have a concern about a course your are taking, please talk with your instructor if you feel comfortable doing so. If not, please consider filling out a class concern form. Common class concerns can include: not posting grades in a timely manner, unexpected changes in class modality/delivery, unreasonable changes to the syllabus, and grade penalties for academic misconduct without the opportunity to explain.
