Using categories and weights to build a gradebook based on a syllabus

Build your categories for each weighted group (participation, assignments, quizzes, and midterm and final) first when working from a syllabus that uses weights or set points per category/group of assignments. If there are already items in your gradebook, that is fine you will just move the items into the categories afterwards.
