Add the Extra Credit

There are two ways to add extra credit. If there is only one extra credit assignment it could be on its own. If you will have more than one extra credit you will want to use a category to have more organization. We will build the extra credit with a category in this example.

First, add your Extra Credit category and when using the category make the category extra credit by using the extra credit check box in the category settings.

Note: when using a weighted mean of grade in a gradebook you need to put the extra credit assignment(s) inside a category set to a natural aggregation.

Empty extra credit category with extra credit setting applied.

Then add the extra credit item or move your already created extra credit assignment into the new category.

To verify extra credit, look for the plus to the right side of the points. When it's in a category you want to have the category total have the plus and no plus on the actual assignments otherwise they will not get counted onto the total correctly.

Note: When using a natural gradebook aggregation a weight should be displayed on the extra credit category to make sure it does affect the students' grades.
