RAM or random-access memory; computer memory available to the user for creating, loading, or running programs and for the temporary storage and manipulation of data, in which time of access to each item is independent of the storage sequence. As a storage medium, RAM is volatile, so its contents are lost when the power fails or is turned off.

For gaming it is recommended to get 16GB of RAM. This ranges around $200. Meaning each 8GB of RAM will cost about $100. The RAM is so expensive because it holds all the important data onto your computer. Without the RAM, your PC would just be a useless shell of things. For gaming, 16GB will be just fine. The only time you want to get less than 16GB RAM is when you are only using your PC for work or school. Otherwise, still stick with 16GB.
