ART 271 - Printmaking; Woodcut and Linocut is a beginning level course in relief printmaking. Students will design and create original prints through exploring techniques and processes involved in woodcut, linoleum cut and wood engraving. Perceptual skills, compositional development, and basic thematic awareness as well as the aesthetics and history of printmaking will be introduced. Each project will follow a design process from initial idea to finished, original print. Students will learn safe and sustainable printmaking practices, and will become familiar with the printmaking studio procedures and practices. Students will also learn to solve visual problems, become familiar with art vocabulary, and be encouraged to think critically about drawing and art in general.
