Lane Poetry Alliance is teaming up with LCC's librarian Claire to host a zine workshop in CEN 229 inside of the library on Tues., Feb. 25 from 10:30 - 12:00 P.M.  We will learn a little about zines and have access to supplies to make our own. Snacks and tea will be provided. Spots are limited so please RSVP here. If anyone has any questions or would like to learn more, please email the poetry club at poetryalliance@my.lanecc.edu. Interactive Ceramic Demo with Walter Ali this Friday

Ceramics Art Student Association would like to you to join master ceramicist Walter Ali this Friday  from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. He will be presenting an interactive talk and wheel throwing demo to teach about his style and share his journey with ceramics. He has been practicing for 50 years now. You may be familiar with Walter's ceramic mugs sold at J&J Coffee. The presentation will be held in Building 10, Room 120.

Mar. 5: Are you a creative thinker, a dreamer, a maker, a planner, or just curious? Join a world-building workshop, "Let's Build a Planet" with Becky Chambers, author of A Psalm for the Wild-Built. This is an interactive workshop on cross-pollinating ideas, making connections outside of your field, and collaborating on real-world issues. Open to all LCC employees and students from all majors and disciplines. Workshop runs 10:30 AM - noon in the Longhouse. Register by March 1. (Space is limited.) The Future Is Always Fiction What good is fantasy, when the real world requires action? Does art exist apart from science, or are they perfect complements? Is escapism irresponsible in times like these, or can it be used as a tool for restoration? Join author Becky Chambers for a talk on the powerful, sometimes subversive act of imagining hopeful futures in the midst of a world in crisis. Talk is 3 - 4:30 PM in the Longhouse.

Mar. 8: The Student Production Association brings to you The Unknowing is the first full-length choreographic piece by LCC student Ethan Guillen, with original music by LCC staff member Daniel Brawley. The piece is an exploration of how we carry on and support one another in an often tough world, where too many lack interest in knowing and empathizing with others. The ensemble of 11 dancers, through 4 acts, examines how we, particularly queer and transgender people, minorities, and others whose existence is seen as a threat to society, can thrive. Tickets are available at the door sliding scale $5-15. No one will be turned away for inability to pay.

Mar. 11: Prep for Finals and join the STUDY JAM at the Library! The Library, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) and Student Government Association will be hosting a Study Jam on Tuesday, March 11 from 3-5 pm in the Library. Free pizza, drinks and snacks will be available at 3 pm. Get tutoring and advising help, pet a therapy dog, and learn yoga relaxation techniques. All LCC students are welcome!

Mar. 14: Pi Day 2025 Come to the STEM Zone Friday, March 14th, for a Pi Day celebration! There will be pie, pi-shaped cookies, and pi trivia! We will be open as usual for tutoring, and all students are welcome to participate.  

Mar.17: The Student Production Association is offering, for FREE "Stage Combat Workshop" to all LCC student.  Come learn the essentials actors are most likely to encounter on stage, introducing the skills needed to perform some of the basic falls, hits, slaps, grabs, shoves, good partnering, and more, both safely and with dramatic effect. Come prepared to move! Instructor Kevin Inouye is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors and an award-winning fight choreographer and coordinator for both stage and screen. Denali Literary & Arts Magazine: After returning to print after a long hiatus due to the pandemic, and we want your creative work! If you're an LCC student or alumni, you can submit visual art, including photography, digital and graphic art, ceramics, sculpture, and illustration, or literature such as short stories, prose, and poetry. To submit your work, email mortensenc@lanecc.edu and ensure images are high quality and written works are properly formatted.

The Torch: LCC’s student newspaper, is looking for passionate and creative individuals to join our team. We are currently seeking writers, multimedia journalists, designers, cartoonists, and more. If you’re interested, fill out our [Google Form] or reach out via email at mortensenc@lanecc.edu. We offer work-study, paid freelance, and co-op (college credit) positions. If you're interested in journalism, check out our advisor’s hybrid course this spring: News Writing 1 (CRN: 41563). We look forward to seeing new talent join our team!

Are you considering one of the following? Taking an incomplete, changing your grading method, or withdrawing? If so, Feb 28 is the last day to do so for this term. 

*Remember! These decisions can impact Financial Aid, so always check with Advising or Financial Aid first.*

Saturday, Mar 15, 11:59 p.m.: Deadline to pay off your Winter term bill.

If you haven’t already, make sure to pay by this date so you aren’t dropped from next term’s courses. Can’t make the deadline? Don’t hesitate to contact the Bursar. They can make a payment plan with you.

Student Health and Wellness Center: Call 541-463-5665 to make an appointment for a flu shot if you haven't had one yet this year. There is a lot of flu going around in the US and Oregon this year and it's not too late to protect yourself and those around you. The Student Health and Wellness Center also offers STI testing, visits for birth control, visits if you're sick, mental health services and much more!

Tutoring: Week 10: Extended Tutoring Hours! Need help preparing for finals? Looking for a study space? The STEM Zone will be open for additional hours during Week 10! Study, grab a snack, and meet with a tutor! Come to the STEM Zone (Building 16, 193 & 169) Mon. - Fri., 9:00 - 4:00 P.M.

Do you have a concern about a class? If you have a concern about a course your are taking, please talk with your instructor if you feel comfortable doing so. If not, please consider filling out a class concern form. Common class concerns can include: not posting grades in a timely manner, unexpected changes in class modality/delivery, unreasonable changes to the syllabus, and grade penalties for academic misconduct without the opportunity to explain.
