Moodle: Student & Instructor Email Messages Caught in SPAM Filter

Instructors,

If you use a my.lanecc.edu or lanecc.edu email address, messages created in Moodle and sent via email have recently been incorrectly marked by our Campus Google GSUITE as spam. The issue was first identified last week and applied to messages sent from Moodle auto notifications (Deadline updates, event notifications, noreply@ address) as well as messages sent via forums/direct messages (user@realemailaddress.edu).

Both my.lanecc.edu and lanecc.edu addresses utilize google email filtering rules such that any messages received from Moodle shouldn’t be sent to SPAM. However, system changes by Blackboard (our LMS provider) temporarily broke the filter resulting in student and instructor emails incorrectly delivered to google’s SPAM box. The broken spam rule has effected users differently which made it difficult to isolate if it was a Moodle notification issue or an email delivery issue.

We have resolved the issue however, please check your Google SPAM filter to ensure important messages haven’t been missed: https://www.lanecc.edu/spam
