Moodle: Three Unexpected Upgrade Issues

Instructors,

While last weeks upgrade to Moodle v3.5 has generally gone smoothly, today we've have been documenting and working with our hosting company to track down the root cause of three non-related issues.

1) Moodle Mobile apps (Moodle, Moodle Classic, Blackboard OpenLMS) are currently unable to connect to classes.lanecc.edu. Mobile and tablet devices can still connect to Moodle but must do so though a mobile web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, ect...). Our Moodle host has acknowledged and identified this issue as a software defect and are actively working to resolve the issue. No estimated timeline was provided but I am hopeful for a quick turnaround as the issue effects multiple colleges. Please share this information with your students who might be using mobile devices to access online class material.

2) A limited number of instructors are unable to browse previously sent messages or use Moodle messaging to send messages to previously contacted students. During the upgrade, some messages did not migrate completely and receive a database error as a result. This issue does not appear to effect all users and message recovery is being completed by our host.

3) A limited number of instructors are unable to edit books they have previously published or imported into new courses. The content within the books themselves are viewable by students but some instructors are receiving database errors when trying to edit pages within the book. This issue has also been identified as a software defect and we are waiting on a fix from Moodle HQ.

My apologies to those students and instructors who are inconvenienced by these issues and will send additional updates as fixes are deployed.
