Instructors,

As we crest up and over week 6 of the term, the anticipation of spring break is beginning to feel tangible. For those who are ready to jump into pre-term preparation, your Spring 2022 courses are now available to you in Moodle.

➑️  To help you close out a previous course or to open an upcoming course you can follow our recommended Moodle course Start of Term and End of Term procedures.

Reminder: You will either need to click on the "Hidden Courses" link or search for your class using the CRN# to locate your hidden courses. Over the next several weeks, department administrators will continue to assign and adjust course workload. If you don't see your course listed, please be sure you are assigned as the instructor of record before contacting the ATC. Student enrollments will be added one week prior to the beginning of the term (Monday, March 21st, 2022).

🀷 Can’t Seem to Locate Your Course in Moodle?

We do our best to keep up with instructor course assignments in Banner but occasionally, there may be a delay. Currently there are 50+ courses that are unassigned (assigned to "STAFF") along with sections yet to be built. If you don’t see your section listed, check the class schedule to ensure your department administrator has officially added you as the instructor of record.

⭐  Reminder: Work Week Now Begins on Mondays

The default Moodle template was updated to start the work week on Mondays instead Sundays. This is the default for all future terms. Instructors can manually adjust course beginning and end dates at any time from within the main course settings page. The course end date is intentionally set to extend past finals to allow for makeup work and/or comments.

Have You Submitted a Spring Metacourse Request(s)?

A Metacourse allows you to combine enrollments from multiple course sections into a single Moodle shell β€” reducing the need to duplicate resources, activities, etc. in multiple sections. Early requests are appreciated as it helps to avoid last minute technical issues. If you would like a Metacourse, use our meta course request form or contact the ATC (atc@lanecc.edu) for assistance.

πŸ†•  Attention McGraw-Hill and Connect Instructors

McGraw Hill has upgraded their Moodle integration and setup process using a new standard called "LTI Advantage". The new integration simplifies the course pairing process and is targeted to replace the current integration by Fall 2022. The new integration is available to all instructors via Moodle's "Add an Activity or Resource" tool or via the external tool "pre-configured" tool type. Documentation and instructions from McGraw are not yet available but instructors are encouraged to try the new integration.

🐞 v3.11 Bugs FIXED

Three distinct display issues unexpectedly appeared as part of our previous software update. All issues identified have been addressed and will be deployed during our v3.11 MP1 maintenance update rolling out this Thursday, February 10th at 12:30am. For details on other minor changes in this maintenance pack, please refer to the release notes.

Activity completion defaults have also been updated. Manual activity completion requirements are not turned on by default for newly created pages, books, labels, or url resources. The defaults only apply to newly created items. Reminder: Instructors can use a bulk tool to change the activity completion settings for all activity types
