October is going by too fast.  But at least the smoke is out (kind of). One thing is for sure, this Fall weather feels amazing!

Some of you are still working on your midterm exams.  Remember that tutoring and other resources such as TRiO, Center for Accessible Resources, and LCC Library are here to help.

Free Tutor-Created Writing Workshops
for All Students

Writing tutors, Liz and Claire, are co-facilitating a series of writing workshops this fall.

These are 1-hour, dynamic workshops that aim to engage, educate, and encourage students through some of the more isolating writing obstacles.

  1. Mapping Writer Success: Breakdown of PURPOSE in Essay Writing

Volunteers Needed to Use
Student Activity Fee

 
The Office of Student Life & Leadership is extending an important invitation for students to join the Student Activity Fee Committee (SAFC).
 
The Committee will have the opportunity to make recommendations to the level of financial support that will be provided to student-initiated programs. 
 
We are currently searching for committee members from the following organizations:
  • 2 Lane SGA Student Government selected representatives
  • 2 student representatives selected by and from the "Unions"- MEChA, BSU, NASA, GSA and APISU
  • 2 student representatives selected from other fee-receiving groups (Example: Maxwell Student Veteran Center, The Torch, Learning Garden, International Programs, Athletics and Recreational / Club Sports Programs, Longhouse Building, and others)
  • 1 student representative selected by the Council of Clubs
  • 4 at-large student representatives

If you are a member of one of the organizations listed above and would like to be part of the SAFC Committee, please complete the SAFC Committee Interest Form
 
Our goal is to have the committee established by early November.

The Senate meetings are business meetings and are open to the public. This is a forum for discussing funding proposals, school policy changes, leadership trainings, conferences, speakers and events on campus, voter registration, and student suggestions.

The Why We Build Project shares stories suicide survivors in Lane County in their own words.  Lane County Public Health and the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lane County invite you to see, hear and read their stories in a walk-through exhibition in the atrium of the LCC Library (Center Building)."
 
Open to the public from October 25th to November 19th.

Connecting with others lowers anxiety and depression, improves the immune system, helps us manage our emotions as well as boosts our mood, and can also improve self-esteem! 
 
Here on some ways to create connections:
  1. Join a club
  2. Volunteer
  3. Find common ground with a classmate and exchange contact information or plan to meet on campus
  4. Schedule quality time to nurture current relationships

Food Pantry for Students who Cannot Afford Balanced Meals

We are open! 
 
Please proceed with the following steps to order food each week:
  1. fill out the Rainy Day Pantry Food Box Order form at least one day in advance so that we can assemble your order before you arrive. 
  2. You must be logged into your student email account to access the form. 
  3. The order form allows you to customize your food box each week.
  4. Pick it up on Tuesday between 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 
  5. You will find us on Lane's Main Campus on 30th Ave, Center Building, Room 153.
  6. If you need accommodations or have questions, email foodpantry@lanecc.edu.

Note: Same day orders and walk-ins will be served on a supply available basis.

The Titan Times is shared with students weekly on Tuesday afternoons. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. on Fridays during the regular term. If the campus is closed for a holiday on a Monday, the publication will be shared with students the following afternoon.
 
Please include web links where students can find additional details of submitted information and submit posters or pictures as a .jpg or .png format. Submissions may be edited for content, clarity, and tone.
