What to know before working with a tutor
Tutors are happy to help support you in the
Lane Support Hub Zoom Room
and on campus! Please visit our
tutoring site
to get the most up-to-date information. Here is what’s at the top of the list to know prior to meeting with a tutor:
We understand that seeking out tutoring can feel overwhelming or intimidating, which is why we want to let you know that tutoring sessions are simply casual, friendly conversations aimed towards supporting student needs. In other words, we want to help! Tutors are not experts in the disciplines they tutor; they are simply
experienced
in the overall discipline. Please bring with you, and be prepared to go over, any assignment descriptions provided by the instructor. These give the tutor context about the class, assignment, and instructor expectations, which helps us better guide you.
