Students should be on alert for fake offers, jobs, money

On Oct. 24, Lane Community College was alerted of an email and texting scam that was sent out to some students. The message uses actual LCC instructor names (but it is not really them) and asks the recipient to purchase a list of supplies so that they can work remotely as an intern/research assistant at Lane Community College. The offer falsely suggests the recipient will be compensated for their services. If you were a recipient, you may also have received a fake check. DO NOT cash this check and DO NOT follow the instructions in the email or the text. The fraudulent communication may ask you to provide a Venmo account to deposit a payment. DO NOT provide this information.

If you think you have received such a message or have questions about , please contact the Student Help Desk at shed@lanecc.edu.
