It's time to explore the WebAIM contrast checker!
Once you've completed the exercise your challenge is complete. It's a win-win. You've learned a little something about font accessibility and you will be entered into the drawing for some of those fabulous prizes we're giving away.
Goal: The purpose of this short exercise is to explore the WebAIM Contrast Checker. It is a tool for checking the color contrast of text and backgrounds on a web page or digital document. It helps us ensure the content is readable and accessible to all individuals.
Directions
Step 1: Access the WebAIM Contrast Checker - Go to the WebAIM Contrast Checker website.
Step 2: Select Colors to Evaluate- Find the "Foreground" and "Background" color picker boxes.
- Click "Foreground" and pick the color of the text.
- Repeat the process for "Background" and pick the color of the background.
(You also have the option to input the color HEX# or use the color slider)
- The Contrast Checker will calculate the contrast ratio automatically.
- It shows the ratio numerically and visually. The results are located below the color pickers.
- Aim for a ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text or 3:1 for large text.
- If the ratio passes, it shows a passing grade (e.g., "AA" or "AAA").
- If it fails, it shows a failing grade.
- Try adjusting the colors for better contrast if needed.
- Try a few more color combinations.
- Take a screenshot showing you explored the checker
OR - List the top two things you learned in this challenge
