Two organizations are on the ballot, for Lane Student Government Association (SGA) and Student Activity Fee Committee (SAFC).
Why is voting important? These two organizations represent your voice on campus. From advocating for student rights to organizing events and managing the budget of student activities, the SGA and SAFC ensures your concerns and ideas are heard at every level of college administration. Voting in the elections gives you a say in who represents you and how your student activity fees are utilized to enhance student life.

The Lane Poetry Alliance is excited to present another amazing poetry event on campus. On Tuesday, May 14th, from 2:00 - 3:30 P.M. we are hosting a poetry reading! It will be in the center building, room 229, located in the Library. Please join us if you’re intrigued and on campus! We are also releasing our introductory newsletter in the next few days and, if interested in joining the mailing list or obtaining information about our club, see our website. MECHA de LCC is proud to host the first Latinx Graduation Ceremony called ¡Celebramos! MECHA de LCC invites Latinx students to celebrate as a community with family, friends, and Lane staff.
The event is scheduled tentatively for Sat., June 1, from 5:30 - 8:00 PM with a Dance following the Ceremony. There will be a dinner and a reception featuring Tres Leches dessert.

These events are open to ALL students wanting assistance with financial aid, summer/fall advising and registration. Students, staff and faculty members - you are cordially invited to an intimate conversation with Chabot College's president Dr. Jamal Cooks. President Cooks will be discussing students leadership development, minoritized student recruitment and retention and student success in an AI area. Prior to community college administration, Dr. Cooks served as a full professor at San Francisco State University, where he was also the associate director for the Educational Leadership doctoral program. In 2017, he was the recipient of the National Council of Teachers of English’s Halle Adolescent Literacy Educator Award. Dr. Cooks also co-convened Chabot's Black Excellence Collective.

Whether you're deeply involved with AI or haven't engaged with this technology yet, your perspective is vital. These discussions will help us understand a broad range of experiences and views as we explore the impacts and opportunities of AI technology at Lane Community College. Common Read: Read an amazing book lately? The Common Read at Lane program will launch Fall 2024 and host a series of discussion circles and activities for the LCC campus community around a single book during the 2024-2025 academic year. The chosen book will be provided for free (while supplies last), and events will be open to all students and LCC employees. Suggestions for next year's Common Read are being accepted through Wed., May 22.
