Wednesday (Oct., 16): Looking for an on-campus job? Lane’s departments are searching for student employees! Join us for an on-campus employer Job Fair on October 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to learn about jobs from areas like Media Services, the Student Help Desk, Student Engagement, Marketing, and Tutoring! Most departments at the fair are hiring immediately for Federal Work Study positions. Not sure you’re eligible for work study? Drop by to learn more about the departments that may have future opportunities for non-work study roles, too! Stop by the Student Job Fair for on-campus jobs | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Join the LCC community in reading A Psalm for the Wild-Built by award-winning Becky Chambers. All students are invited to one (free!) copy to read on their own, and to participate in activities in fall and winter terms. The story follows a traveling tea monk on adventures after meeting a robot in the mythical landscape of Panga. Get your book today from 12:00- 2:00 PM in Center Building or on Nov 7 , 10:00 - 12:00 PM in the Library Makerspace. This is a read-on-your-own without any deadlines or obligations; join the events when you are able. Mark your calendar for Nov 14 for a reading party with hot tea and sweets to discuss the books with other students and LCC employees.

Student Government, Lane Community College Staff, and STUDENTS spoke! The winners of the Welcome Week Window Painting Competition are in this order - 9, 1, and 6. Congrats to the winners and a big thank you to all who have participated! If you have not seen this display of groovy 60's, check out the second floor entrance by the library in the Center Building. 

Halloween Costume Contest Returns!

Creepy? Kooky? Join Academic and Tutoring Services for a mysterious and spooky costume contest this Halloween! Drop by the STEM Learning Zone, Building 16, Room 169, on October 31 between 9 :00 - 4:00 PM. to enter our Costume Contest or just to have a treat. A Halloween trophy will be awarded for: * Best Student Costume * Best Group Costume (Students and Employees eligible) * Best Pun-based Costume (Students and Employees eligible) Wear your Halloween best (but please remember, no full face masks, no realistic weapons, and no costumes that appropriate/stereotype cultures)!

Tip of the Week: Now that you’ve settled into fall term, you may be feeling the pressure of homework and studying. Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed? Don’t worry! Lane has skilled, friendly tutors to help you in 50+ subjects. Tutoring is always free and available online or in-person. Visit lanecc.edu/tutor to get started. Student Health and Wellness Clinic provides rapid testing for HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis C! Eligible students can get free or low cost Chlamydia and Gonorrhea testing.

Mental Health and Wellness Center Want some support in getting clean? Join us on Fridays at noon beginning Oct 25th in the Zen Den (Building 18, room 102). No clean time required. You can also drop-in appointments for existing and new students who need some support on Wednesday November 6th, the day after Election Day from 9-12 and 1-4 pm.

Do you have a concern about a class? If you have a concern about a course your are taking, please talk with your instructor if you feel comfortable doing so. If not, please consider filling out a class concern form. Common class concerns can include: not posting grades in a timely manner, unexpected changes in class modality/delivery, unreasonable changes to the syllabus, and grade penalties for academic misconduct without the opportunity to explain.
