Weeks of Welcome is wrapping up today and Wednesday (Oct. 22-23), and we invite you to join the fun! Don’t miss the Student Club and Organization Fair, sponsored by the Council of Clubs, in the Center Atrium (second floor) from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Explore over 20 clubs and organizations in attendance and discover ways to get involved on campus!

Protect yourself, your family, and your community by getting a flu shot! Walk-in flu shots are available for Lane students and employees. Free for students with OHP (Oregon Medicaid) $20 for students with other insurance or no insurance $20 for employees.

Please bring your insurance card if you have OHP. Flu shots are not available to those with Medicare Part B.

Tuesday, 10/22: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM and Thursday, 10/24: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Creepy? Kooky? Join Academic and Tutoring Services for a mysterious and spooky costume contest this Halloween! Drop by the STEM Learning Zone, Building 16, Room 169, on October 31 between 9:00 - 4:00 PM. to enter our Costume Contest or just to have a treat. A Halloween trophy will be awarded for: * Best Student Costume * Best Group Costume (Students and Employees eligible) * Best Pun-based Costume (Students and Employees eligible) Wear your Halloween best (but please remember, no full face masks, no realistic weapons, and no costumes that appropriate/stereotype cultures)!

 

Frustrated that you can't recycle yogurt containers or other #2, #4, & #5 plastics? Well, now you can! Bring them to our Halloween Plastics Round Up on Thursday 10/31 from 12-2 p.m. at the east entrance of the Center Building. Plastics must be clean and dry. Day: expended Oct., 25 Apply Now: LCC Dreams Fund Application Form for Credit Students The LCC Dreams Fund supports students who are ineligible for federal financial aid due to immigration status. Assistance is prioritized for English learners, students transitioning to credit classes, and those pursuing short-term training programs. This term, additional funds are available specifically for LCC students of Mexican origin with demonstrated financial need, thanks to the IME Becas Grant from the Mexican Consulate. Application Deadline: Extended until the IME Becas funding has been expended, by 10/25/24. For questions, please contact DreamsFund@lanecc.edu. ENGLISH and SPANISH available.

Tip of the Week: How do you stay ahead at school? Plan ahead. On Monday Oct. 28, winter and spring term schedules will be viewable online. Plan which classes to take so you can save money and graduate on time. Not sure what you need? A friendly advisor would love to help! Sunday Dec. 15 is the final day to pay fall term bills, but you can pay sooner and avoid added stress during finals week. You can see your account balance in myLane. Need help? Student Accounts can arrange a payment plan.

Registration will open for both winter 2025 and spring 2025 on November 11th. You can make a plan with your academic advisor and register for both terms at the same time, if you wish to take advantage of this option. Students with Veteran, CAR, or credit priority registration can register for both terms starting on November 4th and on the following days by credits earned. Course schedules for summer and fall will be available on October 28th Secure your spots early! 

Check out the Willamette Farm and Food Bulk Food Buying Event. Customers can pre-order veggies, grains, meat, and so much more directly from area farmers. EBT is accepted! Up to $100 Double Up Food Bucks match for preorders! And, 1 bag of free compost available to each pre-order customer! To take advantage of the full $100 DUFB match, load at least $200 worth of products into your pre-order cart and make sure that at least $100 of those products at DUFB eligible. This only applies to pre-order purchases. EBT cards will not be charged until November 10th when customers pick-up their pre-order. 

Mental Health and Wellness Center Want some support in getting clean? Join us on Fridays at noon beginning Oct 25th in the Zen Den (Building 18, room 102). No clean time required. You can also drop-in appointments for existing and new students who need some support on Wednesday November 6th, the day after Election Day from 9-12 and 1-4 pm.

Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE): This fall new students in credit classes that were randomly chosen from Lane and other colleges across the nation will share their college experiences by completing the Survey of Entering Student Engagement (SENSE). If you were chosen to be a part of the survey, you will receive an survey invitation via email. Please respond honestly and openly. Your responses will remain confidential. The results from the survey will help us find the best ways to make programs and services better. As a thank you, students who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for a $20 gift card. Thank you for letting us learn from your experiences.

Do you have a concern about a class? If you have a concern about a course your are taking, please talk with your instructor if you feel comfortable doing so. If not, please consider filling out a class concern form. Common class concerns can include: not posting grades in a timely manner, unexpected changes in class modality/delivery, unreasonable changes to the syllabus, and grade penalties for academic misconduct without the opportunity to explain.
