Heads-Up: Moodle Update Affecting Kaltura Video Embeds

Instructors,

We've just confirmed that there is currently an issue affecting how Kaltura videos display in Moodle. After the last nights system update (Moodle v4.4.4 MP2), videos added through the Kaltura tool in the TinyMCE HTML editor are incorrectly displaying as clickable links rather than embedded players.

Example Snapshot Shown Below:

This issue is specific to videos inserted via the Kaltura plugin in the HTML editor. Videos added through other methods, such as the Kaltura Video Assignment or direct iframe embeds, continue to function normally.

I've submitted a ticket to our Moodle hosting provider (OpenLMS), and they've acknowledged that this is a widespread issue affecting multiple institutions. They're actively working on a fix, and our case has been added to their list.

In the meantime, you and your students can view videos by clicking the video link. A few users reported occasional permission errors when the video opens in a new window but we've been unable to replicate.

I'll keep you updated as soon as I have more information or when a fix is implemented. Thanks for your patience as we work through this!
