Hello Summer Instructors,
This is a reminder that you have until Friday, September 4 to select any final summer or development (DEV)Moodle courses you need migrated to Canvas.
If you have already made your selections or do not wish to make additional selections, no further action is needed. Otherwise, please choose your summer courses for opt-in by the end of the week. Please don't confuse this with course migration requests previously submitted. If for some reason your DEV course wasn't included in the spring, you can select it now with the expectation that any new selections will be unavailable to you until after the Fall term begins. Batch 2 migrated content will be delivered in October.
For those who may have missed it, in July we opened a second opportunity to select courses to migrate from Moodle to Canvas. This opportunity was mainly designed to accommodate summer 2026 term courses that were previously unavailable. If no action is taken, no additional courses will be migrated. If you want your Summer 2026 courses in this migration batch, you must manually opt them in using the Course Opt-In tool.

âś… Before the Term Begins
- Request any combined sections or meta courses before students begin the course. The ATC cannot combine sections after students have submitted work without data loss.
- Copy course content into the official CRN course or combined meta. Your migrated content arrives in a separate course from your official fall section. Copy the content into fall sections or development shells before making modifications, so the migrated course stays intact as a backup.
- Publish the course and course content as needed. Students cannot see a course until faculty publish it.
Publisher and external tools: Most of the top-used LTI tools are already enabled in Canvas, and we are working through the remaining list. If you rely on a tool for fall term and cannot find it in Canvas, contact the ATC at atc@lanecc.edu so we can prioritize it.
H5P activities: Canvas does not integrate with H5P the way Moodle did, so activities arrive as placeholders and have to be reconnected after migration. Beginning September 1, the ATC will identify which courses use H5P and contact those instructors to build a plan. Courses running fall term are prioritized first.
Additional Notes: Canvas permissions do not allow instructors to change course start or end dates, enroll students (except into DEV courses), change the short or long course name, install their own LTI External Tool connections, join sections (meta courses), or delete SIS (Banner) managed enrollments.
⚠️ General access to Moodle will cease on September 14, 2026
Canvas (canvas.lanecc.edu) is Lane’s official LMS for student enrollments and class materials beginning Fall 2026. General access to Moodle will cease on September 14, 2026 and all user access will be suspended by default. Individual instructor access will be granted through December 31, 2026 if an instructor submits a Moodle extended access request. Student access to Moodle will be restricted to grade appeal review.
If there is something in Moodle you know you need, and it has not been queued for migration, we recommend downloading it now rather than waiting on a request later.
