Moodle Gradebook - Natural Aggregation no excluding empties

Instructors,

I had previously reported on the problem of Natural aggregation method not excluding empty scores in the student view:

Nov 13th - https://classes.lanecc.edu/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=281758

Oct 14th - https://classes.lanecc.edu/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=276187

The problem is that when the gradebook is set to Natural aggregation method with the setting "exclude empty grades" enabled - this works for the instructors view of the grades, however it does not work for the student view.  The students view does not exclude the empty grades so their grade is much lower than the instructors view.  The instructors view is the correct view.

We had hoped the Winter upgrade would have resolved this issue.  Unfortunately, it does not appear the upgrade had any impact on this issue.  This is a known Moodle core issue and they are working to resolve this issue - https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-51398

Once this issue has been resolved I will make sure to update faculty.

A work around is to remove the "exclude empty grade" setting or change the aggregation method to simple weighted mean of grades.  The ATC can help with either of these workarounds if needed.

We apologize for the continued inconvenience.  The Natural aggregation method is a wonderful method that has taken the place of Sum of Grades.  However, it does have this one flaw that we hope will be resolved soon.
