🌧️ Winter 2022 Courses & Instructor Enrollment

Instructors,

The Oregon rains returnith...

I've rolled out Winter 2022 courses but it feels like we're a wee bit ahead of other college processes. There are ~250 course sections that are currently unassigned and other sections that haven't been created yet. If you have been designated as the instructor of record (not "STAFF" or "Unassigned"), your Winter 2022 courses are now available to you in Moodle.

➡️  To help you close out a previous course or to open an upcoming course you can follow our recommended Moodle course Start of Term and End of Term procedures.

Reminder: You will either need to click on the "Hidden Courses" link or search for your class using the CRN# to locate your hidden courses. Over the next several weeks, department administrators will continue to assign and adjust course workload. If you don't see your course listed, please be sure you are assigned as the instructor of record before contacting the ATC. Student enrollments will be added one week prior (December 27th, 2021) to the beginning of the term.

⭐  1-Minute (or less) Moodle Improvement Poll

Should Student Work Weeks Begin on Mondays or Sundays?

We've had a number of instructors who've requested we adjust our default Moodle template to begin the work week on Mondays instead Sundays. For those visual people out there (myself included), see the winter 2022 example included below.

👉  Take the Poll (google form) and let us know your preference!

Sunday-to-Saturday Weekly Format
(Current)
Monday-to-Sunday Weekly Format
(Proposed)

Note: Instructors can manually adjust course beginning and end dates at any time from within the main course settings page. The course end date is intentionally set to extend past finals to allow for makeup work and/or comments. It is also possible to use a custom title and override the default dates.

Request a "Metacourse"
A Metacourse allows you to combine enrollments from multiple course sections into a single Moodle shell — reducing the need to duplicate resources, activities, etc. in multiple sections. If you would like a Metacourse, use our meta course request form or contact the ATC (atc@lanecc.edu) for assistance.

🗒️   New Knowledgebase (support.lanecc.edu) Launching in Winter 2022

The ATC will be migrating the help articles located at support.lanecc.edu to a new platform called HelpJuice. Our current platform (Kayako) is failing, outdated, and is no longer supported by the software vendor. We are excited by many features the new platform will provide — including improved article searchability (#1 user complaint).

We plan to keep the same help address (support.lanecc.edu) to minimize any broken links. However, if you've specifically deep linked to an article, you may need to repair the broken link once the new platform has officially launched.
