Instructors,
Summer 2023 student enrollments are now syncing with your Moodle courses. By default, courses are not set to automatically "show" to enrolled students and they will not have access to your course until you update the course visibility setting.
➡️ Here is a guide that will walk you through how to make your course visible to students. Follow our recommended Moodle course Start of Term and End of Term procedures to help you close out a previous course or to open an upcoming course.

🎓 Moodle 4.1 Deployment Summer 2023 Term | July 13-15th, 2023
If you are teaching a course in Summer term, Moodle will be unavailable July 13, 14, and 15 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).
This constitutes a planned three-day Moodle outage that will impact students and summer classes during Week 3 of Summer term. Students will not be able to start quiz attempts or submit assignments during the outage, so please consider this when starting the term.
An announcement will be emailed to all Summer term students on July 5th in conjunction with a notice posted on the front page of Moodle. A final reminder email will be sent to faculty and students July 11th.
Don’t hesitate to contact the ATC with questions on how to make your materials available outside of Moodle (Google Drive works great for this!).
- 😲 Visit the Official Moodle 4.0 launch website
- 🤔 Visit ATC's Moodle webpage to learn more about what's new in 4.0.
- 🤠 Explore Moodle’s 4 Demo Site / Sandbox to get hands-on experience. Use the teacher login (username = teacher/password = moodle), keep in mind the site is reset every hour so you won't be able to save your work, but you will be able to preview the new layout, grade book, settings, and more!

🆕 🛫 Moodle v4.1 Pre-Flight Report For Fall 2023 Instructors — Coming in August!
As a courtesy and service to all instructors at Lane Community College, our Moodle Admin will be emailing an individualized pre-flight report for courses likely to be imported into the upcoming term (i.e. fall 2022). Highlighted within the report is the top 5 areas that may require attention to ensure a seamless transition to the Moodle 4 environment.
For some faculty members, these suggestions may require little change, while for others, they may be more substantial. If you do not receive an email, your course(s) are likely below minimum thresholds to be of concern. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the ATC.
Teaching Multiple Course Sections? Merge Them Into A Single Moodle Meta Course.
For those new to Metacourses: a Metacourse allows you to combine enrollments from multiple course sections into a single Moodle course shell — reducing the need to duplicate resources, activities, etc. when you are teaching multiple sections or course sharing between multiple instructors.
Submit a meta course request (online google form) or email the ATC (atc@lanecc.edu) before the term begins.
