Hello LCC Students,
I am Dr. Colm Joyce, but if you see me on campus or on Zoom, you can call me Colm (pronounced "Column"). I serve LCC as the Vice President of Student Affairs, and I hope your fall term is going well. I would like to give you a a COVID-19 update.
COVID-19 cases are on the rise, so we are encouraging students and staff to do the following:
1. If You Test Positive:
- It is not necessary for you to report your positive test result.
- If infected, you do NOT need to isolate for a set number of days. However, you should be aware that you can get others sick.
2. If you have COVID-19:
- Stay home until you have not had a fever for 24 hrs without using fever reducing medication and other COVID-19 symptoms are improving.
- Avoid contact with high-risk individuals like people who live in congregate care facilities or people with immunocompromising conditions for 10 days.
- Mask when you are around other people in the 10 days after you become sick or test positive.
3. If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19:
- It is recommended that you wear a tight-fitting mask for 10 days following the exposure.
- You should get tested at least 5 days after the exposure.
LCC does not have a policy requiring mask wearing, but it is recommended to wear a tight-fitting mask for 10 days after testing positive or are exposed to someone who has tested positive.
Thank you for doing your part to keep the people at LCC as healthy as possible!
Sincerely,
Dr. Colm Joyce, Vice President of Student Affairs

Student Health Clinic offers fast and easy testing
|
|
|
|
|
|
Did you know that there is a Health Clinic on campus? See a nurse practitioner or RN for any of your health care needs. The Health Clinic offers a wide range of sexual health services as well as online Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) screening. Fill out the
online screening form
, and a nurse will contact you to set up an appointment for testing.
Fill out the online screening form ONLY if you do not have symptoms. If you have any STI symptoms, please contact the Clinic (Building 18) to make an appointment asap so you can get treatment. The Health Clinic provides prescriptions for PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), a daily pill that helps prevent HIV for those who are at high risk. Make an appointment to get more information, or to find out if PrEP is right for you. Make an appointment with a provider to discuss birth control options.

Go the Library at Center Building, get a sweet treat
|
|
|
|
|
|
Amidst quiet dance of pen and ink,
He guards the library, where minds link.
Treasures bound in leather and lore,
He knows, in books, there’s always more.
Say he, “come ’round, and take a treat,
With stories and sweets, our spirits meet.
For in this sanctuary of the mind,
Candy is a rare, sweet find.
Take only one,” his bony hand extends,
And in wisdom’s halls, the truth transcends.
With sugared grace and a skeletal smile,
In this spooky library, he’ll rest awhile.
