March 1 is NEXT WEEK and is the deadline to submit your 2024-25 LCC Foundation and Ford Family Foundation scholarship applications. Upcoming Drop-In Workshops:

  • Thu., Feb. 29: 10 am-4 pm at CEN 219

No sign up needed for group counseling at Building 18

 
The Mental Health and Wellness Center is offering drop in group counseling this Winter term.
No sign up needed. Below is a list of subject matter, times and dates.
  • TREM (Trauma Recovery Empowerment Model): A woman's group focusing on education and recovery from trauma. Wednesdays 10 am-12 pm meeting in the Zen Den (Building 18).
  • Cross-Cultural Care Cooperative: A co-ed mental health and support group meant for connecting people from cross cultural backgrounds International, first generation, BIPOC) in order to grow their support networks, discuss stressors, and gather help in navigating life's ups and downs. Tuesdays 1-2 pm meeting in the Zen Den (Building 18)
  • Wellness Warriors: A co-ed group intended to provide guidance around a variety of topics and an opportunity to process situations, emotions and stressors. Wednesdays 1-2 pm meeting in the Zen Den (Building 18).
  • Grief Support Group:  An open supportive group designed to assist individuals dealing with the unique challenges that accompany grief and to connect with others going through similar experiences. Fridays 12-1 pm meeting in the Zen Den (Building 18).
  • Neurodivergent Support Group: Wednesdays 11 am-12 pm meeting in the Zen Den (Building 18).
  • Meditation Group: Learn a variety of meditative practices to center you in the here and now. Tuesdays 11-11:45 am meeting in the Zen Den (Building 18).
  • Habit Change Group:  Learn to start, stop, or change habits using science based methods Fridays 12-1 pm meeting in the Zen Den (Building 18).

Artist shows "Domestic Engineering" on Feb. 22-Mar. 20

 
Please join us in the Roger Hall Gallery from Feb. 22-Mar. 20, 2024 to view Claire B Jones’s body of work titled "Domestic Engineering". There will be an Artist Talk with Reception located outside Roger Hall Gallery (Building 11, 1st floor) on Feb. 22, 2-5 pm. February 22nd from 2-5 pm with the artist talk beginning promptly at 3 pm. p.m. There is no fee to attend and the event is open to the public.

Claire B Jones is a talented fiber artist whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional textile art. With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of textile techniques, Jones creates intricate and mesmerizing pieces that captivate viewers with their complex patterns and textures. Jones’ work often explores themes of nature, identity, and the human experience. We hope to see you there!

Learn about attacks on Black education leaders on Apr. 3

 
In the wake of controversy surrounding Critical Race Theory, Moms for Liberty, Book Bans, and the ongoing attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Black school leaders in particular have been punitively targeted. Please join us on Wed., April 3, 6-7:30 pm at the LCC Multi-Cultural Center for "Navigating Political Backlash: The Underground Railroad for Black Educational Leadership During an Up-coming Election Year",  sponsored by LCC's African American Student Programs and G.R.I.O.T (Greatness Rediscovered in Our Time). At this event, we will learn how Black current and former superintendents navigate especially during a contentious election year. For more information, please contact Dr. Lawrence Rasheed .
