Free sexual health testing at GEC on Feb. 14, 11 am-2 pm

 
The HIV Alliance will be providing free rapid testing for HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis C ,for any members of the community on Wed., Feb. 14, 11 am-2 pm, at the Gender Equity Center (Building 1, Room 202).

LCC and Ford Family Foundation Scholarships due Mar. 1

 
The LCC Foundation 2024-25 Scholarship Application is due March 1, 11:59 pm. 
 
The Ford Family Foundation 2024-25 Scholarship Application due date is March 1, 5 pm. The Ford Opportunity Scholarship is for parents of any age or students over the age of 25 pursuing associate’s or bachelor’s degrees. The Ford Transfer Scholarship is for students transferring to a four-year college in Fall 2024.
 
Scholarship and Employment Services (Building 1, Room 226) can help you submit a strong application!

Titan Basketball plays Umpqua and Portland this week

 
Titan Basketball hosts Clark Community College on Sat., Feb. 17, at the Gym (Building 5). The Women's game starts at 2 pm. The Men's game starts at 4 pm.

Library has poetry, Black History displays, valentines

 

February is brimming with activities in the Library! Visit the Library website for more info. Did you miss the Library Poetry reading? Visit the Poetry book display to browse poetry books from the collection, and inspire your own writing practice. Lane has a student poetry club called the Lane Poetry Alliance. Contact Ryan for more information. The Library is celebrating Black History Month with Black Joy! Explore our book display of musicians, artists, writers, and thinkers who are shaping contemporary Black culture and scholarship with a focus on resilience, creativity, humanity, and reclamation. And finally, don't forget your sweetie, galentine or favorite study buddy! The Library will host Valentine button-making on Wed., Feb. 14, outside the Library from 11 am-1 pm. We have everything you need to make a special token of your love.

Students presenting 10-minute plays, Feb. 22-24, 25

 

Winter Shorts is a ten-minute play showcase featuring plays written by students and local playwrights and directed by LCC Theatre students. No reservations necessary; excellent seating available at the door. LCC Student Productions Association shows are free to all LCC students. 

To support SPA, non-student audience members are encouraged to pay what they can at the show. Suggested $10-$15 donation. Contact haimbachb@lanecc.edu for more information.

Celebrate PTK, Honors students at Induction Celebration

 

Welcome new Phi Theta Kappa and honors Program members on Mar. 1, 12-2 pm, at the Longhouse at LCC. This event is for all current and prospective Honors and PTK students and their guests as well as for LCC faculty, staff, and managers. Lunch provided. Please RSVP .

Free workshop on tree pruning at campus garden, Feb. 15

 
Students can help LCC's Learning Garden Club prune fruit trees at the Learning Garden, located at the southwest corner of campus next door to the Child and Family Care Center. Students can learn about pruning techniques and practice their skills on the fruit trees on Thu., Feb. 15, 10:30 am-12 pm. Tools and instruction provided.
 
Established in 2006, Lane's Learning Garden is a student-led initiative to grow healthy, sustainable food for our campus community while providing learning, service, and leadership opportunities. Produce is donated to the student food pantry, and the Lane Child and Family Center. 

Recycle difficult plastics at Plastics Round Up on Feb. 28

 
LCC is a registered Community Collector for Plastics Collections with Lane County Waste Management. Help our community to keep plastics #2, #4 and #5 out of the landfill and bring your materials for recycling. The collection event will be Wed., Feb. 28, 11 am-1 p at the Recycling warehouse on the east entrance between Buildings 9 and 10. Materials must be clean and dry labels no longer need to be removed with the exception of prescription bottles.
