Women's History Month begins, welcome Beccah Maley

 

President Stephanie Bulger and new Director of Student Life and Leadership stopped by the Gender Equity Center at Building 1, Suite 202, to get an early start on Women's History Month, which starts on March 1. For more information about how LCC will be honoring women, see the next article.

Beccah Maley is the new Director of Student Life and Leadership, where she will be the advisor for the Student Government Association and Council of Clubs, editor of the Titan Times, co-director for the student food pantry, the lead for welcome activities and Commencement, and much more. Celebrate Women's History Month at GEC, Building 1

 
Come celebrate Women's History Month at the Gender Equity Center , located at Building 1, Suite 202. 
  • Wed., Mar. 6, 9 am-12 pm: Women In Transition Reunion. Former WIT students are invited back to the GEC (formerly Women's Center) to celebrate success!
  • Wed.. Mar. 13 and 20: Faculty and staff are invited to gather 9 am-12 pm, and students are invited to gather 12-3 pm to honor and celebrate the women of Lane Community College.

Plan B is free without appointment at Building 18

 
The Student Health Clinic has Plan B (emergency contraception) available for free, without an appointment -just walk in and ask for it. If you want to talk about other contraception or emergency contraception options with a nurse or nurse practitioner feel free to make an appointment. The LCC Health Clinic is available for your health care needs. There is no charge for appointments. Call 541-463-5665 to make an appointment. Or, stop by Building 18, Room 101 to pick up your free Plan B, home COVID test, or check out our self care station.

Student opinions needed about problem gambling

 

College student feedback is needed for an anonymous 5-10 minute survey on gambling belifs and behaviors. Share your opinion with the Oregon Council on Problem Gambling. Contact elliottd@pdx.edu for questions.

Nursing student earns award for extraordinary care

 
LCC Nursing Student Stephanie Lamson (left) received the DAISY Award for her work as a licensed practical nurse at McKenzie Willamette Medical Center. The DAISY Award is a nationally recognized award of nursing excellence in the hospital setting. DAISY recognizes nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and families, demonstrating compassionate and excellent clinical skill.
 
The LCC Nursing Faculty and Director of Nursing are proud of Stephanie, and are truly grateful that she has chosen the nursing profession.

Learn how Black leaders "navigate political backlash"

 

Please join us on Apr. 3, 6-7:30 pm, for "Navigating Political Backlash: The Underground Railroad for Black Educational Leadership..." at the Multicultural Center (Building 1, Suite 206) This event, sponsored by LCC's African American Student Programs and G.R.I.O.T (Greatness Rediscovered in Our Time), will cover how Black current and former superintendents navigate their positions, especially during contentious election year.
