Instructors,
Fall 2022 courses are now available to you in Moodle.
There are 210+ courses that are unassigned (assigned to "STAFF") along with sections yet to be built. If you don’t see your section listed, check the class schedule to ensure your department administrator has added you as the instructor of record.
➡️ To help you close out a previous course or to open an upcoming course you can follow our recommended Moodle course Start of Term and End of Term procedures.
Reminder: You will either need to click on the "Hidden Courses" link or search for your class using the CRN# to locate your hidden courses.Student enrollments will be added one week prior to the beginning of the term (Monday, September 19th, 2022).

❓ Knowledge Base Refreshed and Migrated to New Platform
All knowledge base articles for Academic Technology and the Student Helpdesk (SHeD) have been migrated and are currently available at the following temporary web address: lanecc.helpjuice.com. We are optimistic a permanent sub-domain address will be implemented and the assistance available via the previous sub-domain (support.lanecc.edu) streamlined for users before Fall term begins.
🎥 Zoom Updates & Tips!
- Hyflex and Hybrid teachers, did you know that you can add an in-person classroom to your Zoom meetings using the Zoom LTI Pro tool in Moodle? When scheduling a meeting, simply find the option to select which “Zoom Room” you will be teaching in.The option will have a drop down box allowing you to select an LCC building and room number. Using this option will designate the DTen in the specified classroom as an alternative host while also adding a “Start Meeting” button on the DTen screen during the designated class period.
- By using the Zoom LTI Pro tool in Moodle, students will be able to attend scheduled zoom meetings with the least amount of extra clicks or logins. As long as the student clicks the link from the LTI - they will get signed in without any extra work.
- Zoom recordings are perfect for sharing during the term but are irreversibly deleted 365 days after they were recorded. If you have recordings you wish to save and reuse, they must be downloaded and transferred to Kaltura (available in Moodle), YouTube, Google Drive (temporary storage only), and/or your personal storage device.
🎓 Moodle 4.0 coming to Lane in 2023!
Our Moodle Hosting partner (OpenLMS) is diligently reviewing every bit of new code to ensure a smooth transition and bug free upgrade. Assuming no major issues are discovered, they've estimated the upgrade will be deployed during Christmas week (Dec. 28th). While the exact date is tentative, it is likely that our Winter 2023 classes will be run in Moodle 4.0.
- 😲 Visit the Official Moodle 4.0 launch website
- 🤔 Visit LaneCC's google site to learn more about what's new in 4.0.We'll be posting updates and information as it applies to our hosted version of Moodle on this site.
- 🤠 Explore Moodle’s 4 Demo Site to get hands-on experience. Use the teacher login (username = teacher/password = moodle), keep in mind the site is reset every hour so you won't be able to save your work, but you will be able to preview the new layout, grade book, settings, and more!
⭐ Test Your Moodle Course As A Student
Through a combination of adding and switching roles, instructors can take quizzes and receive automatic grading, complete your own activities to confirm that “activity completion” and “restrict access” options are working as desired, and even test email notifications (something is submitted, graded, etc.). For instructions on how to do this in your own courses, check out our help article
Now Taking all Fall Term Metacourse Requests
Early requests are appreciated as it helps to avoid last minute technical issues. If you would like a Metacourse, use our meta course request form or contact the ATC (atc@lanecc.edu) for assistance.
For those new to Metacourses: a Metacourse allows you to combine enrollments from multiple course sections into a single Moodle shell — reducing the need to duplicate resources, activities, etc. when you are teaching multiple sections or course sharing between multiple instructors.
