Special: Women's Basketball wins NWAC Championship!

 

Lane Community College (LCC) is thrilled to announce that its Women's Basketball team has won the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Championship game, defeating Green River College with a resounding 72-52 victory.

Lead scorers for the Titans were Sierra Scheppele (18 points), Bella Hamel (17), and Toni Coleman (14). Hamel was also recognized as Most Valuable Player.

Coach Sheley expressed his pride in the team's achievement, saying, "Our players have worked incredibly hard this season, and their dedication and commitment to excellence have truly paid off. This victory is a testament to their talent and determination, and I couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them."

  • Fri., April 21, 3:30-5:30 pm , Building 1, Room 206 (MCC): Asian and Pacific Islander Student Union Family Night for everyone. Free.

Eligible students can apply for Spring 2023 bus passes

 
Students who are taking campus-based credit classes (paying the $27/term transportation fee) can now start applying for the Spring 2023 LCC student bus pass  at no additional charge. Students must apply for a new pass for every term they are a student. For more information, please see the LCC Bus Pass webpage . Spring 2023 passes are valid from March 20-June 30, 2023.

New, expanded hours for Student Food Pantry for Spring

 
The Rainy Day Food Pantry will have new, expanded hours for Spring 2023. Starting on Tuesday, April 4, the student pantry will be open from 11 am-4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The Pantry is located at Center 153, ground floor--the entrance faces Building 12. The Pantry is for any student who is unable to afford sufficient nutritious food for themselves.

Wed., March 22 is last day of tutoring for Winter 2023

Tomorrow, tutors will continue to offer you support in the Lane Support Hub Zoom Room  (9 am-5pm) and on campus (please visit our tutoring site to get the most accurate, up-to-date information).

Important Note: Tutors are not permitted to help on final exams. Tutors can help with clarity and studying before working on final exams but cannot help with any tests.

April is Mental Health Awareness Month

 

Are you hurting since the pandemic? Are you looking for healthier ways to cope? The Mental Health and Wellness Center is offering two convenient workshops on how to move past fear, grief and loneliness.  These workshops will help you to develop healthy coping habits and change the ones that are holding you back. You will leave both workshops with real skills and strategies that you can start using right away!

  • Tues., April 11, 2 pm: Moving past fear, grief and loneliness
  • Wed., April 12, 2 pm:  Changing how you cope
  • Tues., April 18, 2 pm: Changing how you cope
  • Wed., April 19, 2 pm:  Moving past fear, grief and loneliness 

All workshops will be held in Building 18 in the newRespite, Recovery and Rejuvenation Room

Library happenings in March

 
In honor of International Women's Day - Visit the Library for radical inspiration from feminist artists, writers and activists.  We've collected a small sample of books by women about lived experience. "I will not have my life narrowed down. I will not bow down to somebody else's whim or to someone else's ignorance." -- bell hooks
 
Life is Graphic! - What happens when a cartoon grows up? It becomes a graphic novel! Come browse about 100 graphic novels from our collection on display just outside the Makerspace. If you are inspired to create one for yourself, we have materials to help you get started.

Spring break is coming! - Need something fun to read over break? Our collections are bursting with fun stuff to read, watch and learn. Mysteries, horror, fantasy, comics, cookbooks, documentaries ....  If you need help finding a title, ask a librarian!
