As part of our chapter's work this year, PTK students at Lane will complete a year-long research project called the Honors in Action (HIA) project. This year's research theme is The Art and Science of Play, and Lane’s PTK chapter will be exploring how students’ identities impact their beliefs about how learning, failure, and play are related.
On May 25th, a team of Lane PTK students will present the early stages of the HIA research project at the University of Oregon’s Undergraduate Research Symposium. Each student will give a very short (2-3 minute) “lighting talk” on one aspect of the project. Later in the year there will be additional opportunities to present the project to Lane students, faculty and staff.
If you are a member of PTK, we need your help with this project! There are many ways to contribute, from helping design and conduct surveys, to finding relevant sources, to authoring segments of our research report, to serving as a presenter at the UO Symposium, to simply sharing ideas and feedback with the rest of the team.
To learn more about how you can get involved, contact our PTK Chapter President, Isaiah Contreras (
isaiahc_2005@yahoo.com
), or our Chapter Advisor, Caroline Lundquist (
lundquistc@lanecc.edu
).

Mental Health Tip of the Week: How to get better sleep
Struggling with sleep? Sleep helps to restore the brain, when we do not get enough sleep, it affects our memory and our mood! Getting enough sleep can help us become less forgetful in day-to-day tasks as well as being able to better regulate our emotions throughout the day! Here are some ways to help improve your sleep:
- Try to make sure you go to bed around the same time each night and wake up at the same time each day.
- Limit the use of electronics at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
- Limit caffeine intake towards the end of the day
- Create a comfortable sleeping atmosphere by being mindful of light, temperature, and sounds.

What's happening in the Library
It's been a dramatic time in the Library as we recover from a small fire and water damage. The event occurred over Spring break, and we are busy addressing repairs. Full recovery may take several weeks. While our physical space is closed, we have many services available online. We also have help in-person at the Library and SHeD desks in Center Bldg. Please check the Library website for the latest information.
🤔 Need research help?
Librarians are available by email or you chat directly using the red Ask Us button on the Library website. We can help you use databases, find sources, develop your topic, evaluate information, and more. Librarians are also available at the Library service desk in Center Bldg.
👀 Resources online!
Access to article databases, newspapers and streaming video is available from the Library website. Thousands of ebooks are accessible from the Library catalog. The Research Toolkit and dozens of Research Guides are always available!
📢 Library Student Survey
We know. It's a little odd to have a survey while the Library is closed, but we appreciate your support right now. Please take a moment to answer a few questions so we can learn how you use the Library (or don't), and make the Library even better! Take the Library Student Survey through May 2023. Enter your name for fun raffle prizes.
Thanks for your understanding while we navigate Spring term. We can't wait to see you again! ❤📖❤
