Instructors,

Fall 2023 student enrollments are now syncing with your Moodle courses. By default, courses are not set to automatically "show" to enrolled students and they will not have access to your course until you update the course visibility setting.

➡️ Here is a guide that will walk you through how to make your course visible to studentsFollow our recommended Moodle course Start of Term and End of Term procedures to help you close out a previous course or to open an upcoming course.

🆕🤖 Recommendations for Faculty on Generative AI (GenAI)

Thanks to the collaborative efforts, conversations, and hard work of Kevin Steeves and other team members, the ATC has published a support article on the use of Generative AI. This article provides insights into the opportunities, considerations, and recommendations for using GenAI in the classroom. Embedded within the article are links to valuable resources including sample course AI usage policies (filter by discipline and course topic).

🎓 Timely Tip#1: Course "import" is Now Located Under "Course reuse"

In Moodle v4, course import, backup, and restore functions are combined into a single menu called "Course reuse". You'll find it located in your main course page under the "more" menu.

🎓 Timely Tip#2: Bulk Changing Due Dates within a Course

Moving a course from a previous term and want to adjust all activity due dates to the next without editing each activity individually? Why not try the "Dates" report where you can change due dates on all Moodle activities within a single page. For those a bit more adventurous, it's possible to roll forward ALL due date assignments by using the course reuse > course reset option.

🎉 Celebrating our Moodle v4.1 Deployment!

A giant heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the deployment team throughout the past year ❤️ ! Despite our best efforts, there might be bugs or unexpected changes. If you spot any, send screenshots and feedback to atc@lanecc.edu

Here's a summarized rundown from the initial launch forum post:
    • Previously taught content is safe and sound. Simply pick up where you left off! If you don't spot a course, it may be archived and can be restored upon request.
    • Many features have moved but work the same. Can't find a setting? Use our handy guide.
    • Automated popup tours will greet you at login to guide you & students on first login.
    • H5P activities are now created and edited from within a H5P content bank.
    • MoodleHQ is aware of indentation display and functionality issues. If you're interested, a 15-minute video details the problem and proposed solutions.
