Human Progress

The African-American man running from a crowd of heavily-armed police officers seems like something you'd see in a history textbook. You'd think it's something 'We The People" have overcome in this age of information and innovation. But the reality is something altogether different. The stock narrative is that we, the American people, have overcome such a blight on our society, that racism is a thing of the past, and we shouldn't spend another second worrying about it. Then there's the hidden story here is that the threat of racsim is still very much real, no matter how the media may try to cover it up. The connections between 2015 and 1968 are clear: We the People are not free until we are all free. There is no justice so long as there is inequality.

I feel the magazine cover is trying to tell us that this is still happening today and it will continue until we put it to a stop by speaking out

In this picture I see poverty, I see someone running for there live. In 1968 the riots in Baltimore were for MLK's assassination, in today's day it's not to much to different but they're rioting for there rights and everything the deserve and shouldn't have to fight for just because of there color.

This is depressing :(

There is a black man running away from a group of cops. The photo looks modern because the man running is wearing a snapback type hat. Things like this used to happen in the past, but it still happens today which is why it's heart wrenching.

First off I see a lot of police officers, behind (possibly chasing) a running black man. I would assume he is running from them, and they are chasing. There is a huge amount difference, as far as a ratio of 100 to 1. But because i don't know what is actually going on, there isn't much else I could add. The part that was rewritten as 2015 suggests that America hasn't changed and that there is still discrimination? unfair treatment? Need more info.

I feel that the magazine is saying that "white" people are running off "black" people because they don't belong there. Also everything is different in the old days.

The man in the front of the magazine seems to be running from all the cops behind him. There’s a riot going on and the man seems to be running from them. How he marked off 1968 and replaced it with 2015 shows that we are back to what once happened in 1968 is also happening today.

This cover shows that there are race issues that people are still facing today. It has never gone away, just comes in new forms, almost everyday. It happens in the justice systems, the work fields, and even in schooling. We need to realize that there is still more things that need to be fixed, and that starts with changing ourselves.

This post truly does look like it could have come out of todays paper. We as americans pride ourselves as being one of the most evolved and greatest places to live on on this Earth. So why do we still do this? Although i am not Afrimerican American, i can relate to the idea of persicution for something i was not in control of, and its wrong.

The cover of the magazine shows a black man being chased by what looks to be close to 100 police officers. This looks to be some sort of riot, to me it seems silly that they would need this much law enforcement to chase down one man. The crossing out of 1968 and changing it to 2015, shows how this issue has been around a lot longer than just the current time, and this isn't the first time we've felt with something like this before.

I think that the photographer is trying to portray that America's history with people of color is not very good. It's also saying that even today in 2015, we are still having troubles with the issue of racism.
